Well, a lot has happened over the past few months. Apologies for not posting sooner!

In July, Steve & I spent some time in Tee Pee Creek (north east of grande prairie) visiting Darren & Jaqui Le Clerc. We went to the rodeo out there, and saw several other friends as well, including The whole Meijaard clan (Yvonne & Neil's parents came up for a visit) and Delecia and Carly - girls i work with. Rob, one of the guys Steve works with, makes mini doughnuts, hamburgers and cotton candy and sells other treats at fairs, rodeos and other large events... needless to say, we bought some goodies from him! ;-)

Steve BBQed for a fundraiser car we were helping with to raise money to sned kids to the luxurious Rockridge Canyon cmap for Young Life. I got very badly sunburned, but the kids washed a lot of cars and someone got us on the radio, and we raised a lot more than we hoped to, so it was worth the long hot day in the sun! :-)

And I gotto go as the girl's leader for Grande Priaire! It was a challenging but very nifty experience!

Finally Steve got to go to school!!! *yaaaayyy* He left for NAIT in Septembr, and will return home on the 25th of October. Besides his clothes being stolen and his frustration with the public education system, I think he is doing well and is happy he is workign on his cabinetry ticket! :-)

I enjoyed a weekend away with yvonne at a ladies retreat at the end of September. We drove own with a bunch of ladies form GP and all the GP girls stayed in the same cabin with my firend Lindsay as cabin leader. She made us each a T-shirt, and for the costume party night, she planned a suprise! We dressed up as the "Deal or No Deal" ladies!! It was lots of fun - we climbed and jumped off the Tower of Terror, did the zip line and rode horses... :-)

I've been working a lot these days, probably wearing myself out, but things are going well. We are doing a few large jobs, but my favourite is the "W" job. It has fir beam structure with real slate pillars and fireplaces and cherry cabinets & staircases. The loft is a library /sittign area and master bedroom with ensuite that opens into the arched main area. It reminds me of an older church..... i can hardly wait to see it finished! :-)

I suppose this leads up to the Thanksgiving photos... which i will save for another post!

Happy New Year! 2006 was a full, eventful year. I only wish I had been a better journalist. *sigh* Many happy events and great memories.... Perhaps my lonely stack of neglected notebooks will fill up one of these days.... At least I can say that my wedding memories are safely recorded in a special book. ;-P *chuckles*
I am too tired to write a proper post at the moment, but thought I'd pass on this tidbit for all those bloggers who have links that will be affected: Steve's blog address has changed slightly this new year. The address is now http://eclecticalstorm.blogspot.com though as of yet it has the same apearence.

While I was driving home from work this afternoon, I saw a deer. This is not the same deer, but it gives an impression of how it looked kind of gosty. The deer was a large buck with five or so points on both sides. He just stood there and looked at me. I was so afraid he was going to be scared or blinded or watever, and jump on the car. He was only about two or three feet from the car.

1) I woke up feeling horrid. I think poor Steve wondered where his dear wife went. *sigh*
2) After catching a few more winks, I tidied house for discussion group tonight, then went off to work with Hazel at the hospital
3) This afternoon is picking up... I have to go get estimates from body shops, as some guy rear-ended me with a truck and U-haul trailer. Not so hot, eh?
4) Jade Empire is a fun X-box game, and both Steve and I are good at it.... but I realized last night why it is rated as high as it is. *sheesh* :-\
5) Laura and Henry are getting married on FRIDAY! Wow.... time flies... :-)

yesterday Julie, Jessica, and I went to the city. we stopped to gas up at the Co-op in Barrhead, and either just because we are girls or because they have too many people there, we had what you might call superior and speedy service. hehehehehehehehe. in other words, two guys washed the windows while one gassed the car up and checked the oil. it was pretty amusing. i think i'll go there more often. besides, i hate checking the oil anyway. *cheeky grin*

Graduate and begin university classes! :-D

I didn't make any new year's resolutions, actually. I have a few goals that I will try to accomplish, but they weren't made for new years or at new years.

I don't think so...

Family friends John Dowset, Jim Pollock, (Grandpa was the end of last year/beginning of this year).

My grad (because I finished 12 years of education!), My birthday (the staff at camp made me a huge card - it was really special), the canoe trip (man was that fun!), the canoe rescue (I was so scared!)

Starting on post-secondary education (a challenging step for me), or perhaps overcoming a fear, or perhaps making my dad a sweater... that was tricky.

I was sick for almost half the summer - lol.

Sane? Was I ever sane? ;-) (What kept me partially "sane" was writing in my journal, reading the Bible, and praying).

Oh! So many.... I think the biggest was the re-definition of marriage (like it stirred so many of us...)

Lot's of folks (especially when I was away for the summer - but then once I was away from camp, I missed those people, too!)

That is hard! I met so many different people, and it is way to hard to pick... Some special folks, though are my fellow Kannawainians who were new to camp this year (and a lot of my campers were pretty awesome, too).

Some people are heartless, selfish, mean, arrogent... but there are a few gems out there, and it is worth going through all the rest to find that out.

1. What did you do in 2005 that you’d never done before? Took a chairlift at a skihill, talked with a guy on the phone, chatted with people every day for more than 3 months. :)

2. Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I don't remember having any. I was kind of, ummm, busy last New Years. I guess I didn't think of it. There was better stuff happening.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth? My cousin Karen had a baby. I don't remember anyone else who did, except Rachel Capezza. That was special.

4. Did anyone close to you die? Not last year, no.

5. What countries did you visit? Just the US.

6. What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005? Hmmm.... I dunno. A job that pays good maybe? Real time with friends instead of virtual? A car especially. Certainty about some things that have been unsure for a while.

7. What dates from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? Jan. 1st, August about 5-9, when we went to the States, and October 9-13. :) Lots of other good and important things happened, but mostly over time, so I can't give a date for them.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Leaving my other job and actually getting around to starting accounting courses.

9. What was your biggest failure? I think I haven't spent enough time reading the Bible and praying, but that seems to always be a problem no matter how much I do. Another problem I remember was the amount of what you might call virtual flirting I sort of did. :-D I'm not terribly sure I'm sorry, but it can't have been a good thing.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Nope. I've never been injured in my life. I was sick with a cold for about 3 months near the beginning of the year, but that's normal.

11. What was the best thing you bought? I don't know. Gas to get to work, maybe?

12. Whose behavior merited celebration? Steve's. He got engaged to Alison. *grin*

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? Appalled and depressed? I'm never been depressed, and hope never to be. I can think of some people whose behaviour did not merit celebration, but things rarely make me appalled. I'm a typical Albertan. I just complain. :)

14. Where did most of your money go? I don't know. I've been trying to figure that out myself.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? Nothing, I guess. Maybe our trip to the States.

16. What song will always remind you of 2005? Page 74 in the Cantus 'I Waited for the Lord.' I don't quite know why, but I've learned to love that song this year.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Don't remember what I felt like last year at this time. Probably the same. b) thinner or fatter? *blush*
c) richer or poorer? Richer. I hope.

18. What do you wish you’d done more of? Spent real time with more people. :)

19. What do you wish you’d done less of? Procrastination is always a regret.

20. How will you be spending Christmas? As in Christmas 2005? Or this next Christmas? I guess it serves me right for answering this in 2006. :) I spent Christmas 2005 with my family at home. I don't know about next Christmas. We'll see.

22. Did you fall in love in 2005? Don't think so. I won't say I didn't think about it. But that's going to take a while, I think. :P

23. How many one-night stands? Idiot question. As if that was normal?

24. What was your favorite TV program? I dislike TV. In fact, I don't think I watched any this year. I usually watch a bit at least. Oh, yeah. I guess I watched about 3/4 of an hour of TV at the B's house in November.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year? Did I ever hate anyone? I don't remember. I just intensely dislike some people. I know I don't mind someone I used to dislike.

26. What was the best book you read? Prolly all the books by Randy Alcorn I read. I've read lots of other good books this year, but some were re-reads and others I can't remember liking better than Alcorn's.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery? Undoubtedly The Sons of Korah and the Cantus Christi.

28. What did you want and get? My maroon and purple boucle suit. And lots of other stuff.

29. What did you want and not get? A car.

30. What was your favorite film of this year? The Incredibles!!!!! No actually, that's jsut cuz we watched it again last night. I don't know what my favourite was. I watched very few this year.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I think I did nothing on my birthday. I had my big brothers and sisters over a couple of days later. They're nice to me. :-D I was 19.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? I can't think of a whole lot.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2005? Did I have one? If I did, what was it called? I have to answer to these questions.

34. What kept you sane? Sane? What's so great about sane? I don't think I was in any danger of being sane or insane. I never think in those terms.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? I don't think I 'fancy' any celebrities. I don't really like the poor people. Imagine living like that. It must be horrid to always be on camera.

36. What political issue stirred you the most? Bill C-250. :

37. Who did you miss? Lots of people. My relatives in Holland, my friends in the US, Steve, Isaiah, Alison, Amy, Laura. Why do all my dearest friends-an-relations live so far away?!?!??

38. Who was the best new person you met? Lots of people. Henry, Alyson, the Eyre and Tucker families, my cousin Marian's new husband Brian, Rick and Rachel Capezza (although I dont' think I technically 'met' them, since I've never seen them).

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2005. That putting my burdens on God's shoulders is a tremendously comforting thing to be able to do.

tonight i drove a bunch of people home from the CHP sign making evening. we finished 40 signs tonight, and got home about 12:00. we were all so tired. :) we let out the vanassen boys and went on to the harink's, making animal noises and laughing. daniel got out and went to the house, walking oddly like bing crosby, 'fell' inside, turned around and got his arm 'stuck' in the door, shut the door, opened it, and waved like women in movies wave handkerchiefs. hehehehehehe. i thinks i likes being up late. it has an odd effect on us. oh yeah. we also had some fun sticky vinyl ball fights. one got me in the face. lol. vinyl scraps are fun. i'd better check my socks though. i keep finding bits stuck all over me when i come home...... goodnight

I thought this was a rather fun Christmas holiday recipie... LOL :-)

North Pole Cookies
3/4 cup seal-skin oil
1/2 cup glacier sand
1/2 cup toasted snow flakes
2 nerd eggs
2 cups honey flowers
1/2 teaspoon dried dandelion juice
1/2 teaspoon North Pole ice crystals
1 teaspoon Cimarron sneezes
1 teaspoon petrified tree sap
2 cups uncooked elf mush
12 ounces yummy morsels
1 1/2 cups small woodchips (optional)

Beat together first four ingredients until smooth. Add the next six ingredients and mix well, then add the last two ingredients. Bake at 375 degrees for 13 minutes. You should get aprox. three dozen cookies.

...... So even tho nobody seemed to care/notice my last post, i will say something about my jaw again:
I'm getting physio for my jaw, and it seems to be helping. Most likely I will need a night guard though, because I am grinding my teeth and clenching at night, and waking feeling unrested and with horrible sensations all through my head. That will not be fun, but I suppose it would be a good idea, seein'-as-how I've already taken a chip out of my front tooth...... *sigh* whatever works i guess, i just hope no surgery! *bleh*....

4) I am having issues with the Roland printer this aft. GAH.

Have ya'll ever had fun with terse verse? I was looking through my old journals the other day and found some I wrote down after we had a terse verse jam. hehe. They're two word poems. You ask a question that's also a riddle, for instance, "What is a mad flower?" And you answer two words that rhyme, in this case, "A crazy daisy." It's lots of fun.

i was talking to my neighbour on the way home from work, and she said her dogs dig up the carrots out of her garden and eat them. they also pick the strawberries off the plants. ours pick raspberries, i think, and i know they go through all the table scraps and eat the carrot and potato peelings. dogs are very weird. guess why i like cats.

Since moving here, my official second home is with Doiges. They put up with me very well. My other second home is at Bosch’s. They have been a good surrogate family to me for a while now.

I trust where trust is deserved.

Rachel, my cabbage patch doll, and her cradle that Dad made, and all her clothes and things. I still have most of them. Other than that, I loved to read, and have many favourite kids' books.

None, really. I only dabble. I like baseball, because it is fairly unique – not just two teams bashing an object into each other’s nets with sticks, their feet, or other body parts. And hockey is fun too, as it involves skating. That isn’t to say I excel at either.

Refer to question 37. Chocolate is the best food I have ever tasted. Chocolate is in its own food group, which has as sub-categories: brownies, truffles, candy, cake, ice cream, drinks . . . *mouth waters*. Chocolate is the main reason I am glad that Cortez went to Mexico. Note to self – eat more chocolate this week.

None. I’m too busy of a girl to watch TV. My personal favourite "show" at the moment is watching Someone shiver. :-D

I like a bit of suspense, but no horror. My imagination is pretty vivid, and doesn’t really need help. Happy endings are usually unrealistic, but I love ’em anyway. A good example of a suspenseful movie with a happy ending is the Hitchcock movie The Lady Vanishes.

Summer *shiver*. Though February has potential too.

Hugs, mmmm. Oh, and Eskimo kisses. :-)

Not much time for books anymore. I used to read lots of classical literature, and among my favourite authors are still Jane Austen and Charlotte Bronte. Modern fiction I have enjoyed includes Michael Phillips’ Celtic series and the Rift in Time series, as well as the Firebird trilogy by Kathy Tyers. These are just a few though. All I am reading at the moment besides the Bible is Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis.

Chocolate, roses, freshly ploughed dirt, bread baking, evergreens when it has just snowed, coffee.

Paris, Chicago, Berlin, New York, Rome, Venice, London, Copenhagen . . .
